Adam Shankman ("Cheaper By The Dozen 2", "Bringing Down the House" and "The Pacifier") has been signed to direct the Disney family fantasy "Bedtime Story." The story centers on a harried architect whose life is turned upside down when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to come true.
A film choreographer who has moved to directing mostly family films, Shankman’s currently finishing up the film Hairspray (one of those musicals based on a play based on a movie (like The Producers)). I wonder if Disney hopes Shankman can be their M. Night Shyamalan replacement?
I usually don’t report on Disney movie production news because frankly sites like Cinematical and Filmick do a better job of that than I can currently muster. However, this story popped to the top of my list because with the goal of only releasing 8 major films a year, the Walt Disney Studios has to be extra judicious in their choice of directors.
