Disney has settled with the family of the man who died in an accident on Big Thunder Railroad at Disneyland in 2003. As part of the settlement Disney has made a public acknowledgement that they were at fault for faulty maintenance of the attraction.
Terms of the settlement were confidential.
But Torres’ family said it would take $500,000 from the settlement to
establish a memorial scholarship at Brooks College for aspiring
animators. Torres graduated from the school and planned on a career in
animation.
Since this accident Disney has developed a closer relationship with the DOSH even going above the call after the California Screamin’ Coaster accident. I hope they’ve devoted the necessary resources to preventative maintenance too.

Typo alert: the rollercoaster is California Screamin’, not California Soarin’
