ABC’s Emmy Nominations 2011

It should come as no surprise that Modern Family leads in the race to the 2011 Emmy’s among comedies with 17 nominations. ABC as a network claimed a total of 42 nominations to the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards. Other nominated shows include Dancing with the Stars, Grey’s Anatomy, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

Modern Family: 17 Nominations

Modern Family has more nominations than any other comedy series. Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Sofia Vergara, and even Nathan Lane received individual nods. Other nominations included:

  • Outstanding art direction for a single-camera series
  • Outstanding casting for a comedy series
  • Outstanding picture editing for a comedy series (Single or multi-camera) (x2)
  • Outstanding directing for a comedy series (x3)
  • Outstanding comedy series
  • Outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or drama series (half-hour) and animation
  • Outstanding writing for a comedy series

Other ABC Shows

Dancing with the Stars received seven nominations including:

    • Outstanding choreography
    • Outstanding reality – competition program
    • Outstanding host for a reality or reality competition program
    • Four other nominations

Grey’s Anatomy received two nominations including Outstanding guest actress in a drama series for Loretta Devine.

Jimmy Kimmel live received two nominations including Outstanding lighting design/lighting direction for a variety, music, or comedy series.
