With Ed Grier recently forced out as President of Disneyland Resort there has been a lot of speculation as to whom would be the next candidate to jump into that high turnover position.
Erin Wallace, currently the Sr VP of Operations at WDW, and Jim Lewis, President of the Disney Vacation Club, have both been mentioned. For Erin, it’s not really a step up in responsibility although it would be in stature. For Jim, it would be valuable operations experience. But the name that’s currently at the top of the rumor list is George Kalogridis.
George Kalogridis is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Disneyland Resort Paris. He began his career with Disney as a member of the opening team of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Before joining the team in Paris in 2006 he was Vice President Travel Operations in Florida. He has also held a number of positions at Disneyland Resort in California, including working on the opening of Disney California Adventure Park and Downtown Disney. That experience with DCA will serve him well as the park goes through a major expansion.
This move jives with the way Disney has been moving executives around these days. Plus word is that George is in Orlando right now meeting with Al Weiss and Erin Wallace. I’ll leave it up to our friends in Paris to let us know how good a job he’s done there, but word is that he has done a good job and would be a great leader for Walt’s original park.
