Welcome Texans! But Sorry, No Disney Park For You.

I’m suddenly getting tons of traffic from a story in the Dallas News rehashing the rumors of the Walt Disney Company building a new theme park on a plot of land it supposedly owns north of Dallas, Texas. I have to say, don’t get your hopes up.

This rumor has been around for 20 years and it just won’t die. Frankly, I’m amazed it gets any traction with today’s sorry state of the economy. Please put it to bed along with the similar rumors for Kansas, Las Vegas, New York, and Hawaii.

“Hawaii,” you say. “But isn’t Disney building something there right now?” Yes they are. It’s part of the new Location Based Entertainment (LBE) initiative Disney is exploring to slowly expand its market in the resort and time share industry.

Could Texas get a similar resort, sure there’s a small chance. But all of Disney’s theme park money is focused on fixing California Adventure in Anaheim and growing the Disney brand in Asia (see Hong Kong and Shanghai).

So there you have it. Barring definitive proof, like a press release from Disney, Mickey Mouse won’t be building any theme parks in the USA anytime soon, and last I checked that inlcudes Texas.

I just can’t see Disney building another destination resort within the U.S. Everyone is close enough to the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort. Are there any major theme park concepts Disney would do that would be easier to build and operate in Texas than within Reedy Creek Improvement District land at the WDW Resort?

They should totally build a Disneyland in Texas.
all those rumors sbout the weather are FAKE!
Sure sometimes it can be hot.
    Duh! Its Texas!
But they still open theme parks in winter and rides are still going.
It would also bring up the cheerfulness in the kids.
Kids in Texas even in middle and high school are still wishing and hoping that Texas will get a Disney theme park. But all yall want is the theme park for yourselfs by making up rumors about Texas and hy its not a good idea to put it in Texas.
    Its just stupid!
Texas is a good quality place, and yall know it.
You just want it to your city!
But Texas isn’t a bad place, but often a good place.
