One of guests’ favorite ways to get to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World from certain resorts are the water taxis, but unfortunately, that water transportation is not currently not operating.
The Details
It hasn’t rained much in the Orlando area, which makes the water levels low in the canals the water taxis use to get between the resorts and Disney Springs.
Because this poses a safety rish to operating the boats, Walt Disney World has temporarily halted the water taxi system until further notice.
In the meantime, Disney is adding additional buses to its transportation routes to carry guests from these resorts to Disney Springs:
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Treehouses
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside
This isn’t the first time Disney has had to halt the water taxis due to low water levels. As always, safety is first. Once the Orlando area gets its normal levels of rain, the water taxi service will resume.
Looking ahead at the forecast it may be a bit before the water levels will be back to normal, but Disney may decide to open the water taxis intermittently as levels permit.
And in the meantime, if you still want a water taxi experience, other water transportation routes are still running, such as from Disney’s Hollywood Studios to EPCOT, from Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness (I highly recommend this route), and even within EPCOT across the World Showcase Lagoon.
