Disney has announced two new shops will be coming to Critter Country, inspired by “The Princess and the Frog,” to complement the opening of “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” and here’s what you need to know.
The Details
It’s not a Disney attraction without the companion gift shop, and “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” at Disneyland will have two when it opens.
Briar Patch and the left-hand side of Pooh Corner in Critter Country will be reimagined into two shops, inspired by “The Princess and the Frog.”
The first location, Ray’s Berets (currently The Briar Patch), will be the best place for guests to shop for headwear, apparel, accessories, toys and more with firefly Raymond and his firefly kin in the coziest cabin in Critter Country.
Meanwhile Louis’ Critter Club (currently the left-hand side of Pooh Corner) will be where guests can go for apparel, accessories, home decor, and more featuring some of your favorite critters, as well as Princess Tiana.
Disney emphasizes that the treats side of Pooh Corner will remain as a destination for must-have merchandise from Hundred Acre Wood, including beloved sweet treats like Tigger tails.
Closures
To bring these shops to life, Disney says Critter Country will temporarily close beginning May 1, 2024. It looks like even Hungry Bear restaurant will be closed, as there are currently no times or reservations available from May 2nd on.
No reopening date has been given, but it most likely will tie in with the opening of “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” later this year.
Also worth noting is that the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will be coming to Anaheim August 9-11, 2024, bringing thousands of Disney fans to the area, so I’m sure they plan to have their most popular attractions open for that, including the Haunted Mansion, which is also undergoing renovations at this time.
