The 2024 Independent Spirit Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, and Disney-related films and TV shows picked up eleven nominations.
Searchlight Pictures’ “All of Us Strangers” and “Theater Camp” were recognized, as were TV shows “A Murder at the End of the World” (FX), “A Small Light” (National Geographic), “Will Trent” (ABC), “Dear Mama” (FX), and “Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence” (Hulu).
The annual honors recognize the best of television (linear and streaming), as well as film.
Only new TV shows that have run for one season and were released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of this year are eligible for awards.
That’s not the case on the feature front, where films have to be produced for less than $30 million in order to be considered, which is why some heavily-buzzed films didn’t qualify.
These awards don’t separate performers in terms of gender, either, unlike other awards like the Oscars or the Golden Globes.
“Saturday Night Live” alum Aidy Bryant will host the awards show on Feb. 25, with the ceremony starting at 2pm PT/6pm ET. It will stream live on Film Independent’s YouTube channel and IMDB.com.
