The History

For more than 70 years, The Walt Disney Company has supported the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation to bring comfort, happiness and inspiration to children and families in need during the holiday season.

In fact, Walt Disney and his animators designed the original Toys for Tots train logo in 1947 that is still used today.

Since then, Toys for Tots Marines and volunteers have distributed 652 million toys to over 291 million children. Last year, Toys for Tots distributed more than 24 million toys to nearly 10 million children, a record-breaking year for the organization.

The Announcement

“Good Morning America” anchors George Stephanopoulos and Kristen Welker kicked off the Toy Drive by speaking with Texas volunteer Taylor Price who is a coordinator for her local Toys for Tots chapter about what these donations mean for families who couldn’t otherwise provide for their kids at Christmas.

To celebrate her volunteerism and dedication to delivering joy to kids in need, Disney sent a donation of 1,000 shopDisney toys to give her a head start in this year’s holiday distributions.
