It’s been in soft opening for over a week, but as of today, October 16th, “Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana” is now officially open to everyone at EPCOT.
Opening Dedication
Walt Disney World Cast Members and Walt Disney Imagineers made a splash at a dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of “Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.” Attending were Walt Disney World Ambassadors and EPCOT Vice President Kartika Rodriguez, who were joined by Moana during the ceremony to inspire generations of voyagers as they embark on their journey.
Good Morning America
This morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” weather anchor Ginger Zee took viewers on a short tour of what to expect when visiting the attraction:
Tour With Hei Hei
Walt Disney World released this cute social media video to celebrate the opening, featuring Moana’s trusty chicken friend Hei Hei, giving a tour of the attraction:
Sounds of Calm
Walt Disney World also shared a 66-minute video recorded in binaural audio capturing the “sights and sounds” of “Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana,” entitled “Sounds of Calm.”

The Attraction
“Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana” is a walk-through attraction that will allow guests to explore and engage with water as it travels from our skies to our oceans and back again.
It is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios 2016 animated movie “Moana,” and the title character’s fierce determination to protect her environment, especially with her strong bond with water throughout the story.
It is located in the new World Nature section of the park, the EPCOT neighborhood dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.
