Disneyland has announced its “Haunted Mansion” attraction will soon undergo an expansion that will extend the queue and provide a new retail shop, plus new trading cards are coming for Magic Key passholders.
The Details
In 2024, the additions will build on the story and lore of the Haunted Mansion and include an expanded outdoor queue to immerse guests in enhanced theming, as well as a new retail shop adjacent to the attraction’s exit.
Each of the queue’s gardens will feature unique elements ranging from a water fountain and gazebo to themed statuary and landscaping. In fact, guests will be able to see a new greenhouse where the groundskeepers for the Haunted Mansion grow their plants.
The pet cemetery and horse-drawn funeral hearse will continue to reside on the attraction’s grounds.
The carriage house of the mansion, belonging to Madame Leota, will be upgraded to become a new standalone shop. Disney says details on this will come soon.
And one of most exciting upgrades coming to the attraction, Disney will improve the accessibility of these areas, which includes a new elevator exit from the “Haunted Mansion” for guests with disabilities.
Construction on these additions will begin in January 2024. Disney hasn’t said if any closures of the attraction itself will be needed for the expansion. I wouldn’t think it would be necessary, but we’ll let you know if something is announced.
Haunted Mansion Trading Cards
Disneyland Magic Key Holders will be able to pick up a different collectible “Haunted Mansion” trading card each week from Sep 4-28.
It will be available Mon-Thurs only, at Disneyana on Main Street, U.S.A., inside Disneyland Park.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
The “Haunted Mansion” attraction is actually currently closed through Thursday, August 31st as it is transformed for the Halloween season.
It will reopen with its annual “The Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay as the Haunted Mansion Holiday on September 1, 2023.
