Disneyland Resort has announced it will close its parks and Downtown Disney District early today (Aug. 20) due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Hilary.
The Details
For the safety of guests and cast members, Disneyland Resort has made the decision to adjust closing times today. Here are the early closure times:
- Disneyland California Adventure will close at 9pm PT.
- Disneyland Park will close at 10pm PT.
- Downtown Disney District will close at 11pm PT.
- The Disney Junior Playdate offerings will not be available in Downtown Disney for the last day of the event.
The resorts will remain open to serve guests on the property.
So far, no plans have been announced beyond this date.
The Hurricane
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Hilary is expected to have its predicted path pass just east by Anaheim, California, and Disneyland, starting around 9pm.
As of this post, the hurricane is rated a category one storm. In addition to strong winds, there is a danger of heavy rain storms, flash flooding, and power outages.
