In celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, Walt Disney Imagineering and Hyundai Motor America have collaborated on a special IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum concept car, which was unveiled this week at the 2023 New York Auto Show.
About the Car
The IONIQ 5 is Hyundai’s flagship all-electric vehicle, and this #Disney100 Platinum limited edition version features a Gravity Gold Matte exterior color, along with Disney-inspired wheel styles that have hidden light-up Mickey ears.
The concept car version that was unveiled also featured:
- Disney100 Platinum Edition exterior badging
- Disney100 logo embossed on front seat headrests and center console
- Disney100 logo on the floormats
- Mickey ears embossed on the velvet door panels
- Disney-themed intro on the interior screen upon turning the car on which features iconic Disney music, the Disney100 logo, and pixie dust
- Interior synchronized light show featuring changing light modes
My two favorite details are the Lamp screens with Disney sparkle animations across headlights and taillights:
And the moon roof etching details with a touch of pixie dust:

“The creation of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum Concept is the next milestone in a longstanding creative collaboration with Hyundai inclusive of various teams across Disney including our Imagineers, entertainment brand solutions and marketing teams. It’s provided us with a unique way to celebrate our Disney100 anniversary and bring brands closer to the magic we create every day for consumers.”
Beyond introducing the car, no information has been given on when the car will go into production and be available for customers.
Hyundai also hasn’t said how much it will cost, but a non-Disney100 base model of the IONIQ 5 has a MSRP that starts at $41,450, with the fully tricked out Limited model starting at MSRP $52,500.
Taking It For A Test Drive
Good Morning America‘s Sam Champion visited the New York Auto Show, and not only got more information on the car from Disney Imagineer Derek Howard, but took the concept car for a bit of a test run on camera.
