Disney and Pixar have released a new trailer for the upcoming movie “Elemental,” and it offers a more in depth look at the residents of Element City.
The Story
This new animated film takes place in a city where physical embodiments of the four elements – water, land, fire, and air – coexist together.
The story introduces Ember (voiced by Leah Lewis), a tough, quick-witted, and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade (voiced by Mamoudou Athie) challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.
“Elemental” is directed by Peter Sohn, who said at D23 Expo that the movie is inspired by his formative years in New York City.
“The idea started with my parents. As immigrants to the U.S. from Korea in the ’70s, they had no family, nothing. But they managed to create a life here in New York.”
“And just like them, many people have left their people and families to a new land, with hopes and dreams, all mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages and neighborhoods.”
“Elemental” hits theaters June 16, 2023, and will be available in the 3D format, too.
The Trailer
In this first full trailer for “Elemental,” we meet the residents of Element CIty and see how they interact with each other…with the basic unwritten rule that elements can not mix.
A rule that gets tested when free-spirited Wade challenges Ember to step outside of her comfort zones.
