Walt Disney World Adds Walt and Roy O. Disney to ‘Disney Enchantment’ at Magic Kingdom

Disney Enchantment - Walt Disney

Walt Disney World has updated the nightly “Disney Enchantment” show at Magic Kingdom with a new intro that showcases moments leading up to the creation of Walt Disney World.

About the New Intro

The new intro for “Disney Enchantment” debuted on Monday, August 22, and features a collage of images that highlight Walt Disney’s vision for Walt Disney World.

It runs about two minutes, and among the featured images are ones of both Walt Disney and his older brother Roy O. Disney, who opened Magic Kingdom following Walt’s passing in 1966.

In addition to the images, clips of both Disney brothers appear in the new intro.

One features Walt talking about picking out the location: “As you can see on this map, we have a perfect location in Florida. There’s enough land here to hold all the ideas and plans you can possibly imagine.”

Another features Roy’s speech during Disney World’s dedication ceremony in 1971: “May Walt Disney World bring joy and inspiration and new knowledge to all who come to this happy place.”

The intro ends with Mickey Mouse telling everyone in attendance: “Some folks like to say it all started with a dream, but you want to know what makes this place really special? It’s you.”

No word on why they waited 10 months into the 50th Celebration to add this nostalgic look at the creation of Walt Disney World and its creators, but I’m certainly glad they did.

Disney released some b-roll footage showing some of the new intro graphics without any of the spoken audio. Take a look:

About “Disney Enchantment”

The nighttime spectacular “Disney Enchantment” debuted in Magic Kingdom on October 1, 2021, coinciding with the launch of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” at Walt Disney World for its 50th Anniversary.

In addition to using projections on Cinderella’s Castle, images extend down Main Street, U.S.A. to increase the viewing area for the show.

The nightly show time changes with park hours, so it’s best to get the current time by visiting the “Disney Enchantment” official page or searching on the “My Disney Experience” app.
