Actress Lyric Ross is the latest to be cast for the upcoming Marvel Studios’ “Ironheart” series on Disney+.
Marvel’s “Ironheart” stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, who, in the comics, is an teenage engineering prodigy. She develops her own supersuit similar to Tony Stark’s Iron Man, and calls herself Ironheart in tribute. In the comics, she and Stark actually meet, and he mentors her.
Ross will play Riri’s best friend, who in the comics is Natalie Washington. However due Washington’s death in the comics, her ending may be changed, or even possibly made into a different character.
Prior to this casting, Ross was previously seen in “Chicago Fire,” and most recently as Deja Pearson in “This is Us,” for which she won a SAG Award.
She’ll also be joined on the series by actor Anthony Ramos, who is playing a secret role (most likely the villain of the show).
Screenwriter Chinaka Hodge will serve as head writer on “Ironheart,” which was first announced for the streamer on Disney+ Day 2021.
There is no premiere date listed for series, but word is the Ironheart character will first appear in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which is scheduled to hit theaters November 11, 2022 (barring any more schedule changes for that).
