Earlier this month the 27th annual Critic’s Choice Awards released its nominations for TV (of which Disney-related shows did quite well), and now they’ve released the nominations for film.
“West Side Story,” from 20th Century Studios, leads this year’s film contenders, earning 11 nominations, including one for Rita Moreno who won an Oscar for the original “West Side Story” in 1962.
“Nightmare Alley,” from Searchlight Pictures (a 20th Century Studios imprint), also did well, earning eight nods, meanwhile “Encanto,” “Cruella,” and “The French Dispatch” (another Searchlight Pictures release) received two each, and there are other titles that received one each.
The 27th Critics Choice Awards will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, and will air Sunday, January 9, 2022, on The CW Network and TBS.
