So much big news came out of Destination D23, but I didn’t want to miss sharing with you this little nugget of news:
During his keynote opening speech, Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, revealed that a new quick-service restaurant will be debuting in the World Celebration neighborhood of EPCOT as part of the park’s ongoing transformation.
It will be called Connections Café and Eatery, and while D’Amaro didn’t give an exact location for the restaurant, the neighborhood narrows it down as a possible replacement for the former Electric Umbrella quick-service restaurant.
For those not familiar with EPCOT’s new World Neighborhood system, the Celebration neighborhood encompasses the front center of the park from the entrance to the beginning of the World Showcase, as shown in the above artist rendering.
It includes Spaceship Earth, the Imagination Pavilion, and the newly opened Club Cool and Creations Shop.
And that would be where the Electric Umbrella used to be.
The design seems to be an open flow food court design, but no menu has been mentioned. It reminds me a bit of the dining room at the Disney’s Art of Animation Resort food court.
I hope the design includes some great views of the newly redesigned green areas that will be in the center of the World Celebration neighborhood.
No word on an opening date, either, but as soon as we hear of one, we’ll let you know.
