This Spring, Disney+ announced “Hocus Pocus 2” was greenlit, and today, on Halloween, the streamer released additional casting information.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as the delightfully wicked Sanderson Sisters, and joining them will be Doug Jones, who you may remember also appeared in the original film as Billy Butcherson.
The rest of the names are new to the Hocus Pocus story: Whitney Peak (“The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), Lilia Buckingham (“Crown Lake”), Belissa Escobedo (“The Baker and the Beauty”), Tony Hale (“The Mysterious Benedict Society,” “Veep”), Sam Richardson (“Veep”), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Froy Gutierrez (“Teen Wolf”), Taylor Paige Henderson (“Earwig and the Witch”), Juju Brener, and Nina Kitchen.
In “Hocus Pocus 2,” three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern day Salem, and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.
The sequel will be directed by Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal,” “27 Dresses”), who said in a press release, “I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“Hocus Pocus 2” is scheduled for a Fall 2022 release. I’ll let you know as soon as they set a date.
