The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. an new immersive Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World is set to welcome its first guests on March 1, 2022 according to an announcement made this morning. The two-night Star Wars experience will invite guests to be the star of their own galactic adventures.

Guests will blast off into space to ride the starcruiser “Halcyon” in an all-inclusive experience similar to a cruise ship. “On board” activities will be available to passengers, as well as a special “shore” excursion to the planet “Batuu,” aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney revealed the price a vacation at the Star Wars-themed hotel back in August and opens for reservations in October. The original opening date was Fall 2022, but this new earlier open date may mean some availability for an trip.

Also revealed today, is our first look at one of the ships’ interior spaces – the bridge.

On the bridge guests will be invited to participate in training exercises where they will learn how to operate the Galactic Starcruiser. Of course, something goes wrong, and the trainees may be pressed into actual space battle.

That planet outside the viewport is Chandrila, the shipline’s home planet. Chandrila actually has quite the backstory in the Star Wars galaxy of storytelling. It will be interesting to see how much of that is worked into the guest’s hotel experience.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests will be among the first to see Rey and other characters wield a brand-new, more realistic lightsaber designed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development to create dramatic in-person moments previously only seen in films or shows.

For a limited time, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios can now see a model of the Halcyon starcruiser on display inside Walt Disney Presents. We’ll be checking it out soon.
