A few weeks ago, Walt Disney World announced a new restaurant called Steakhouse 71 would be coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and now we have an opening date, plus a first look at the menus.
Steakhouse 71 is located on the first floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort (in the space where The Wave used to be), and it will open its doors on October 1, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reservations will open on September 16.
Named for the year Disney’s Contemporary Resort first opened, Steakhouse 71 harkens back to the design style of the 1970s, reimagined in a contemporary way. You’ll even notice some Florida flare—such as Orange Bird and citrus groves—mixed in with the décor, along with accents of deep red and blue.
Here are some designer mock-ups provided by Disney:
The menus offer a nod to Walt Disney himself. Choose from dishes inspired by some of Walt’s favorites, including Walt’s Prime Rib Hash for breakfast and French Onion Soup, Prime Rib, 6-oz Filet Mignon, or Dry-aged Bone-In Pork Chop for lunch or dinner.
The menus also includes other steaks, seafood dishes, sandwiches, salads, and more. Of course, these are but a few of the many items on the menus, which include kids options, too.
Here is the restaurant’s signature Steakhouse 71 Stack Burger ($20), which features a signature blend of beef, topped with American cheese, lemon aïoli, red onion, and house-made pickles, on a brioche bun. In the photo it is served with the Petite Wedge Salad, but guests can also choose Parmesan fries or pasta salad.
Speaking of the salad, here is the full-sized version of the Baby Iceberg Wedge Salad ($11), which features Toy Box tomatoes, pickled red onions, bacon, and a hard-cooked egg, with house-made Blue Cheese dressing. I love the way it has been plated.

If you click the links to view the menus online, you’ll also see they have lists of Allergen-Friendly dishes and what allergens they’re free of at the bottom of each menu. As someone with food allergies, I appreciate knowing this information ahead of my restaurant visit.
There are also plant-based offerings on each menu, making it easier for vegetarians and vegans to eat at the restaurant. One dish that looks interesting is the Vegetable “Wellington” ($26) which features mushroom duxelles and fire-roasted artichokes wrapped in puff pastry, with a Romesco sauce and brussels sprouts. Here’s a photo of it:
Steakhouse 71 proudly offers a selection of “Disney Family of Wines,” a diverse collection of wines with a personal connection to the Disney name. The wineries display qualities long identified with Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company – passion, innovation, and quality.
I also appreciate the variety of non-alcoholic beverage options (that Cold Brew & Tonic sounds delicious).
For those with a sweet tooth, here is the Dessert menu:
A highlight is the namesake Steakhouse 71 Chocolate Cake, which features 15 layers of whiskey-infused chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and raspberries – one layer for every floor at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Are there any items on the menus that are of interest to you? Let me know what you’d pick to order in comments.
