As part of the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration, Disney KiteTails will debut October 1 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
As the name suggests, the show will utilize oversized props and kites adorned with Disney animal friends controlled by a team of performers to tell a story over the lagoon. Some will be walking, while others will be manuevered by watercraft.
These remarkable kites, some as large as 30 feet in length, are inflated by moving through the air, so some may even appear to be walking or flying.
Expect to see favorite characters like Baloo the bear dancing in the sky or Zazu the red-billed hornbill chasing after Simba. Other movies you may see kites from include “The Little Mermaid,” “a bug’s life” and “Finding Nemo.”
Disney Parks also says original worldbeat arrangements of favorite Disney tunes have been created to accompany the kites on their journey, to help set the mood.
The outdoor show will take place several times daily at the Discovery River Theater, near DinoLand U.S.A.
Here’s a video look at what to expect as Disney Parks previews Disney Kitetails:
I’m sorry but unless I have a toddler with me I don’t think this will be very exciting.
We’ll see when my husband and I visit in October.
Disney usually comes through with great shows but it seems those making the decisions lately are off the mark.
Way off.
