The upcoming Marvel Studio’s Armor Wars series that will air on Disney+ has found its head writer in Yassir Lester, as confirmed by several news sources.
Armor Wars is based on the late-80s Marvel comic series of the same name, and will feature actor Don Cheadle reprising his role of James Rhodes aka War Machine.
Reportedly the series will take place following the events of Avengers: Endgame, and Tony Stark’s death will act as the catalyst for the story which asks “What if Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands?” according to Marvel.
Filming is expected to begin in 2022. Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, will executive produce. No director or additional cast has been announced.
Lester previously worked with Cheadle on the Showtime series Black Monday as one of its lead writers, as well as writing for shows such as Earth to Ned on Disney+, plus The Carmichael Show and Girls.
Armor Wars will join several other post-Endgame Marvel shows on Disney+, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (for which Cheadle has received an Emmy nomination as guest star), Loki, and the currently airing What If…?.
