Walt Disney World has announced that Boma – Flavors of Africa restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will reopen to guests on August 20, 2021.
The buffet restaurant has been closed since the pandemic shutdown in 2020. Reservations can be made starting Wednesday, August 18.
Disney hasn’t mentioned if the restaurant will still be a traditional buffet as it was before, or if it will transition to the family-style service that restaurants like Trail’s End at Fort Wilderness have due to the pandemic.
Reporter Scott Gustin Tweeted that it will be a buffet, though, again, that’s not confirmed by Disney.
I’m excited the restaurant is reopening as I’ve enjoyed its African-inspired menu items, especially at breakfast.
I’d be surprised if it reverts back to the “open” buffet format as before the pandemic.
I would be, too, especially with the resurgence of COVID cases. But since Disney hasn’t stated for sure, I had to word it the way I did. Thanks for commenting!
