Black Widow faces her dark past in new trailer!

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow

This summer’s blockbuster season will feature the long-awaited arrival of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) first movie in Phase 4 – “Black Widow” starring Scarlett Johansson in the title role. A new trailer is available now showcasing Natasha Romanoff’s decision to stop running from her past and sort out some unfinished business.

Fans of the MCU know that Johansson’s character met her demise in “Avengers: Endgame.” So it’s important to note that the core plot elements of “Black Widow” are set between the events of “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

For those unfamiliar with the comics, that villain with the explosive bow and arrow kit and the skull helmet is Taskmaster.

Black Widow won’t be the first Marvel Studios film released out of chronological order, but since we already know the fate of its main character, it will need to really build up the suspense in other ways.

About the movie:

Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow has red on her ledger. In “Black Widow,” Romanoff confronts her dark past when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her mysterious origin surfaces. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh (Fighting with My Family, Midsommar) stars as Yelena, Golden Globe nominee David Harbour (Stranger Things, Hellboy) portrays Alexei aka The Red Guardian, Academy Award-winning actress Rachel Weisz is Melina, Ray Windstone (The Departed) is Dreykov, and O-T Fagnenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) plays Mason. That’s a star-studded cast if we ever saw one.
