October 1, 2021 will be the official kick off of the 18 month 50th anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World. But if you want to be in the Magic Kingdom that day you are likely out of luck.
Disney Park Pass reservations are still required and right now there are no more reservations available for days guests, Disney resort guests, or annual pass holders.
If you want to be there on the big day, don’t give up hope. Your best bet is to book a room and then secure a reservation at another park. Then hope for cancelations or an expansion of in park capacity.

Walt Disney World theme parks are currently open at 35% of peak capacity. Weekends can still feel busy, but it isn’t the brutal crowds you may be used to.
Lately, the Magic Kingdom has been hitting its restricted attendance limits on Saturdays and some Sundays. Weekdays usually still have availability.
Disney executives have expressed their desire to increase capacity as vaccination numbers continue to grow. Whether this happens in time for the anniversary is unknown.
Much depends on factors outside of Disney’s control. Like how many people actually get vaccinated when they’re eligible, if the infection rate keeps trending down, etc.
That said, Disney does appear to be preparing to open more hotel rooms for the summer and every week more cast members are being brought back from furlough. All good signs.
