Disney Springs has debuted a new LEGO art sculpture that will be familiar to Mickey Mouse fans. The Sorcerer Mickey statue pays tribute to the iconic “the Sorcerer’s Apprentice” segment of Walt Disney’s animated classic Fantasia.
We visited Disney Springs today to get a closer look at the new Sorcerer Mickey LEGO art piece ourselves.
Mickey takes a place of honor right in front of the main entrance to the store. He is wearing his signature red robe, blue sorcerer’s cap, white gloves, and brown shoes from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice costume.
The iconic mouse stands upon an outcropping of rock while he commands the waves to crash up around him, just like in the animated sequence.
The statue is very large and the detail work on the water and Mickey’s hat is great. We have no idea how many LEGO bricks were used to built this sculpture, any guesses?
The previous statue in this location was the Toy Story themed Buzz Lightyear and Woody being launched into Infinity and Beyond. It was looking more than a little faded, so this upgrade is a colorful welcome.
We will say that seeing the new Sorcerer Mickey LEGO sculpture at Disney Springs has us missing Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It does not have us missing this other Sorcerer Mickey hat at all.
