Tokyo DisneySea Fantasmic Official Farewell Video

Tokyo DisneySea is often regarded as Disney’s best, or at least most beautiful, theme park. It might also be the best version of Fantasmic! across all the various Disney parks around the world. (Fighting words, I know. Disagree? Let us know in the comments!)

Because everyone is cooped up at home in Japan and dozens of countries around the world, the Tokyo Disney Resort has decided to upload a few of the official videos for their main shows to YouTube to help fans get through the sequester period.

This video is shared with a bit of sadness though. Fantasmic! was originally schedule to close on March 25, 2020, but the last day was actually February 28, 2020 as the park closed to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus / COVID-19. Toyko Disney Resort’s messaging is that this video is meant to help heal the hearts of those who weren’t able to say goodbye to in person due to the Coronavirus related closure.

We’re excited to see this video of Fantasmic! at Tokyo DisneySea as produced by their own entertainment team:

Fantasmic! at Tokyo DisneySea opened on April 28, 2011 in the Mediterranean Harbor. It is the only version of Fantasmic! to not take place on a stationary stage, rather the show is set on a lake inside the park and uses barges to bring the show close to the audiences.

Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasmic! was conceived and directed by the great Disney show creator Steve Davison. It features an original score from Don L. Harper as well as the original Fantasmic! score by Bruce Healey.

Fun facts:

  • The show utilizes just one single Audio-Animatronic.
  • 4 out of the 5 barges in the show were reused from DisneySea’s former Christmas show ‘Candelight Reflections.’
  • The Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat barge is illuminated with LEDs at grows to a height of 15 meters.

At present, there is no announced replacement for Fantasmic! at Toyko DisneySea.
