Dwayne Johnson as a Jungle Cruise skipper on the Amazon, Emily Blunt as a researcher on the hunt for a legendary tree with incredible healing powers, and a movie jam packed with adventure? That’s Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” as revealed in a brand new trailer:
Disney hopes they have something on the scale of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in terms of earning potential. Jungle Cruise certain has the star power and, like Pirates, it’s based on a classic Disney theme park attraction (which itself draws inspiration from great cinematic moments). So it should be a slam dunk, right?
Judging by this trailer and the star’s kidding around on set, the movie doesn’t appear to be taking itself too seriously, which I take as a good sign.

About the film:
Fan favorites Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt head out on the adventure of a lifetime on Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” a rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton.
Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat.
Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine.
Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest.
But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance.
Jaume Collet-Serra directs Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” which stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez and Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” opens in the US on July 24, 2020.
