Disney limits bus schedule at Disney Skyliner resorts

Guests staying at the four main resorts serviced by the new Disney Skyliner gondolas will now find bus service limited to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Disney Skyliner has been running for months and this move is not unexpected as part of the reason Disney built the aerial tramway was to reduce the costs of providing bus transport.

Under the new policy Disney is encouraging guests staying at a the four Disney Resorts serviced by the Disney Skyliner to use the aerial tramway instead of the bus with signs at the resort and on the displays at each bus depot.

Bus service for Disney’s Pop Century, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, and the Art of Animation Resort will now depart to and from EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios only once per hour.

WDW Bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom from the four resorts is unaffected by this change. The Friendship boat service for the EPCOT area resorts is also expected to be unchanged.

Additional buses to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will run when the Disney Skyliner is not in service. Other than the few days a week after it opened, downtime for the Disney Skyliner has been limited to a few hours every now and then.

We timed our recent trip from EPCOT to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at less than 20 minutes, including a short wait when we had to switch Disney Skyliner lines at Caribbean Beach Resort. We love how after riding on what feels like a cushion of air, you’re deposited right on the doorstep leading to your next Walt Disney World adventure.

Remember since June 2018, Disney hotel guests can keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app, or the displays at the bus terminal, for an estimate as to when the next bus will arrive at your resort.

Do you prefer the WDW transportation bus system or the Disney Skyliner?

  1. It hasn’t hit the heat of summer or thunderstorm activity time of the year. I am worried for what happens then. I rode it late October. Yes, nice. But you could tell that airflow “stopped” when it stopped. In October you could immediately feel that stagnation was occurring. And we stopped only for 30 seconds and there was only 2 people in gondola.
