Ron Jon Surf Shop is now open at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. We think it adds a product mix that is a little more friendly to the average tourist budget and should be a popular destination. This is the company’s 12th location and you can find it right near the Lime Garage escalators in the Town Center district.
We visited for the first time the other day and took a quick video highlighting what you will find inside, including a signed Kelly Slater surf board. Dude.
Ron Jon is a long time central Florida chain offering everything from surf boards to skate boards, beach apparel to home decor, and variety of fun toys and accessories that help you declare to the world that the beach life is for you. It’s a great place to pick up any swimwear you might have left at home too.
The store takes over a two-story location that Disney previously used for some pop-up specialty stores and to help keep up sales while World of Disney was under refurbishment. The design looks very nice and fits in with the slightly upscale look of other stores at Disney Springs, even if the merchandise is a bit more populist.
BTW, a couple locations in Disney Springs recently closed “Curl” on the Westside and “Trophy Room” in Town Center (which was owned by Michael Jordan’s son). So there will be more new stores coming soon to Disney Springs in addition to the changes we highlighted in our recent look at construction around the shopping and dining district.
We’d love to see a Jazz Club added to Disney Springs with live musicians. Maybe where the Trophy Room was? Anybody want to back our dream with some financing? What do you think is mixing from the line up right now?
