Shown tonight on ABC during the American Music Awards, a new retrospective featurette video looks at how Star Wars has impacted pop culture over 4 decades. It features glimpses of the series’ stars, producers and directors, plus a few special cameo roles by some well known fans.
I was 9 years old in 1977 when the first Star Wars film took Hollywood by storm. Initially I wasn’t enthused about seeing a ‘kissing film’ since the trailer featured Princess Leia kissing Luke Skywalker before they swung across the Death Star to escape the Storm Troopers. Eventually my father convinced me to go and we went to the cinema in Hazel Dell Washington where all three theaters were playing the movie and the line to see the movie still wrapped around the outside of the building. It did move fast though. I saw it eight more times after that.
What is your first memory of Star Wars?
