In addition to the rides, restaurants, shows, and shops, Disney California Adventure has become the west coast equivalent of EPCOT, at least as far as becoming the host for annual festivals. 2020 will welcome back another year of good fortune with the Lunar New Year Celebration.
Running for 24 days between January 17 and February 9, the event features multicultural performances, fun activities, special decorations, new dishes to sample, and, of course, merchandise. This new year marks the Year of the Mouse, which is obviously a good fit for Disney.
The Lunar New Year celebration has a long and rich history with many traditions related to the Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures. With Disney you also get to meet some characters who fit naturally into this celebration, including Mulan, who has her own procession where she’s accompanied by her faithful companion, the dragon Mushu.
Previous events have included other performances and special outfits for Disney character photo opportunities.
Is celebrating the Lunar New Year something you do in your household? Have you been to one of the recent celebrations at DCA?
