Even the greatest stories must eventually come to an end. So it is with the Star Wars Skywalker saga which will find its end in the J.J. Abrams directed “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” A special trailer has new footage from the highly anticipated movie.
The special preview footage from “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” that was shown to D23 Expo attendees has now been released online for all of us to pour over for clues. What do you think you see?
The film stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, and Billy Dee Williams.
D23 Expo Lucasfilm Panel attendees each received a copy of this special poster:
I think there is some clear misdirection in this trailer. Parts of the trailer appears to be a Dark Force vision (a dark side Rey and a dark side C-3PO). But who knows, maybe things do get really dark for our heroes before they get better.
My other working theory is that clones are in play in more ways than one. There are a few scenes in “The Last Jedi” that would lend themselves to that explanation. Of course, Emperor Palpatine, aka Dark Sidious had a back up plan.
Looking at the trailer it looks like Rey has come into her Force powers and will be formidable opponent to whomever she has to face at the end.
I also like the light saber duel that takes place on the ruins of the 2nd Death Star that crashed onto the moon of Endor where the events of “Return of the Jedi” once took place.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” will take over theaters in the US on December 20.
