Why you should apply to join the Disney Parks Moms Panel, even if you’re not a mom

It’s that time of year again. Parents, grandparents, even others who are the main ‘planner’ for their family are encouraged to apply to join the Disney Parks Moms Panel and share their knowledge with others planning for Disney vacations.

Those who join the panel, all get specialized training from Disney and then are expected to respond to questions from Disney quests in an online forum for planning Disney vacations — DisneyParksMomsPanel.com

Studies have shown that while kids may chose the destination for a family vacation, it is usually the mom doing all the planning and budgeting. Disney acknowledges that’s not always true and has always included Moms, Dads, Grandparents and others on the panel, but they do use the name “Moms Panel” because that is the largest target market.

That is to say, if you think you are an expert on one of Disney’s theme park or other vacation properties (Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, and Disney Vacation Club), and constantly find yourself helping others plan for their vacations too, you should apply no matter your gender, age, or parenting status.

The Disney Parks Moms Panel is available in four languages – English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. The 2020 Panel will be selected based on their personal experiences with Disney destinations, their communications skills in sharing Disney knowledge and their ability to connect with guests looking for practical, helpful advice from their peers.

“The Disney Parks Moms Panelists live and breathe Disney details,” said Leanne O’Regan, Director of Public Relations for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “We receive thousands of applications each year and narrow it down to a few select Panelists we believe will connect with prospective guests as they plan their vacations. Whether your Disney dream is a romantic getaway or a boisterous family adventure, we invite you to apply and find a place for your passion with the Disney Parks Moms Panel.”

While I’ve never served on the Disney Parks Moms Panel, I’ve had the good fortune of becoming friends with many of the members over the years right from the first Disney Moms Panel. I can’t tell you the secret sauce for what to put on your application, but keep in mind that Disney has to narrow the initial pool down rather quickly. So make sure your wear your passion on your sleeve and put your best foot forward in your online profiles.

The search begins September 5th and runs through the 12th. However applications slots are limited and the window will close early if Disney reaches that limit. To apply, visit www.MomsPanelSearch.com. The application is a three-stage process: a series of short-answer questions, a brief video submission and a phone interview. The 2020 Disney Parks Moms Panelists will be selected in October and announced in January. Applicants selected must be available to attend a training session at Walt Disney World Resort in early December 2019. Rules and restrictions can be found on the application site.
