Star Wars Resistance from Disney and Lucasfilm chronicles a small corner of the resistance against the First order, but the tensions are just as high for those involved as the players in the main saga (a few of which make cameo appearances in the series).
The animated TV series has released a trailer for its second season, which picks up right where the first season left off, with pilot and resistance fighter Kazuda Xiona and the denizens of the Colossus in space after avoiding falling in the clutches of the First Order.
Yes. Kylo Ren makes a cameo in the trailer as do other familiar faces:
Is that a Hutt we spotted? It’s never a good idea to get involved with a Hutt gangster as Han Solo found out.
The basic plot of Star Wars Resistance follows young New Republic pilot Kazuda “Kaza’ Xiono who was recruited by star fighter pilot Poe Dameron to spy against the First Order on The Colossus — a refueling station on the ocean planet of Castilon. Kaz is new to the whole ‘spy’ thing, which makes for a lot of humorous situations, but along the way he develops friends, allies, and intelligence, that can make a difference for the young resistance force against the First Order.
It took a few episodes for us to get into Star Wars Resistance. They spent the first half of season one exploring the setting and getting to know the personalities of the Colossus station. The action and intrigue picked up in the second half of the season when Kaz, Jarek, and the rest of the crew began to find their feet in the fight for freedom.
The first season ended in near parallel to the events leading up to the start of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The second season will start amid the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and serve as something of a lead in to the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
We do know this will be the final season of Star Wars Resistance. If you want more Star Wars animated television, you’ll have to join Disney+ for the final season of Star Wars: Clone Wars. After that, we haven’t’ yet heard what’s next in the animated television genre for Star Wars fans.
