Get your tickets for the Wildlife Express and bring your hand sanitizer for the Affection Section petting zoo. Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s animal care team has announced the reopening of Rafiki’s Planet Watch this summer. The area will have a few new enhancements and join in the park’s larger celebration of The Lion King’s 25th anniversary.
Rafiki’s Planet Watch went seasonal, which is Disney-speak for closed to guests indefinitely, back in October of 2018. The space has been used by groups for various events since then and it continued its operations as a key part of the park’s animal care program.
One of my favorite parts of Rafiki’s Planet Watch is the ability to catch a veterinary procedure if you time your visit right. It’s also a rare chance to touch a snake, see a porcupine up close, or learn about how our impact on the Earth impacts nature and its creatures.
The whole crew at The Disney Blog can’t wait to get back and enjoy learning about Disney’s animal care and conservation programs at Rafiki’s Planet Watch this Summer. Let us know your favorite part of this section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the comments.
