The music of Mary Poppins was so iconic, I’m pretty sure by just reading “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” you now have an ear worm for the entire day. We can thank the Sherman Brothers for that magical soundtrack. The long-anticipated sequel to Mary Poppins will feature all new original songs with music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman.
Shaiman is known in Hollywood as a hitmaker. He won a Tony for his score for the Broadway musical Hairspray and wrote much of the Broadway-themed music for NBC’s hit Television show SMASH.
This special teaser trailer contains a ton of new clips from the film along with a taste of the new music from the film:
Mary Poppins has come a long way since PL Travers first introduced her to the world in 1934. We can’t wait to get back to 17 Cherry Tree Lane and reconnect with the Banks children, not to mention Mary Poppins herself.
