Pixar’s Incredibles 2 rockets passed $1 Billion worldwide

Pixar’s return to the world of The Incredibles has been a mega-hit for The Walt Disney Company. Incredibles 2 just leaped over the $1 billion barrier during its sixth week of release a record for animated films. So far the film has reeled in $574 million domestic and an additional $426M overseas. This makes it the 4th best film at the box office for 2018 and the top animated film (by far).

Domestically Incredibles 2 has now outperformed Finding Dory, making it the top earning Pixar film. In another $66M it will pass Toy Story 3 as the top Pixar film at the worldwide box office too. Incredibles 2 is also 9th among all-time domestic movie releases. That’s an accomplishment!

Believe it or not, Incredibles 2 still hasn’t opened in a number of foreign nations. It just opened in Japan, so expect the worldwide total to rise even further.

It may have been a long 14 year wait for director Brad Bird to come up with an idea for a sequel to the Incredibles, but we think the wait was worth it. We hope we don’t have to wait too long to see more from the Parr family, Frozone, and the rest of the Supers.

Disneyland rushed out an Incredibles 2 overlay to its California Screamin’ roller coaster. We would not be surprised if Disney World isn’t actively trying to figure out how to quickly add an Incredibles attraction to one, or more, of its theme parks. The most frequent rumor is a retheming of Rock’n’Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Where would you put an Incredibles attraction at Walt Disney World?
