A preview of coming attractions is a tradition from the earliest days of Disneyland. Guests were encouraged to peek through a wall to see concept art of ‘Liberty Street’ that would be built just off Main Street. That tradition continues with Blue Sky Cellar at Disney California Adventure where guests can now get a behind-the-scenes look at Pixar Pier, which will be opening later this summer at the park.
The preview center features concept art, sketches, and models of the upgraded land which will take over the old Paradise Pier area with four new neighborhoods based on beloved Pixar stories including – “The Incredibles,” “Inside Out,” and “Toy Story.”
Inside Pixar Pier will be two new merchandise locations, including Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, which will feature Bing Bong’s candy treat tears like saltwater taffy and rainbow cotton candy. Knick Knacks, the name of an early Pixar short, will sell tchotchkes and souvenirs based on Pixar movie favorites.
We have more concept art and a look at Jessie’s Critter Carousel (opening in 2019) in our previous coverage of Pixar Pier.
