Is it time to start getting excited for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” yet? The movie from Lucasfilm and Director Rian Johnson flies into theaters on December 15. Classic characters like Luke Skywalker, General Leia Organa (don’t make me cry), and droids R2-D2 and C-3PO all return along with our new friends from “The Force Awakens.”
“When I first read the script of ‘The Force Awakens,’ I was like, ‘I feel like I know these characters instantly.’ And now we get to kind of put them through a meat grinder,” Johnson told USA Today. “And for me, part of that meant that we had to make things as hard on each of them as possible: At least part of the movie, they don’t have their friends around. They’ve got to figure things out for themselves. They’ve got to be faced with whatever the toughest thing each of them can be faced with, and they’re not going to have their buddy there next to them to get them out of it necessarily.”
Footage from a new behind the scenes video with Johnson exploring the set along with movie cast members giving their thoughts on the Director, including Carrie Fisher (ok, now I’m crying) are included:
So grab your lightsaber and embrace your inner Jedi. What are you planning to do between now and the debut of Star Wars: The Last Jedi?
I just breathe and wait with happy anticipation. Carrie’s last turn at Leia will be emotional ? but a joy to see❤️?. Hope that gal totes a blaster and gets into the action. She was sadly underused in TFA. MTFBWY
