Oh, you poor unfortunate souls who have not yet discovered Voctave. They’re an a cappela group composed of current and former members of the Voices of Liberty at EPCOT’s America Pavilion with vocal arrangements from the same talented director as the in park group – James Ray. Their most recent video is a perfect medley of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and “I Put a Spell on You” an early Rock-n-Roll classic. The featured vocalist is the talented Rachel Potter
Potter, who once played Ariel the little mermaid at Walt Disney World, is now singing the part of the sea witch. With an impressive history on and off Broadway, her recent music has more of a country flair, but we think she adds just the right touch in this video.
I can’t stress enough how much I love the technical vocal work and the pure voices of Voctave. It really does seem like every video released by them is better than the last.
If you haven’t already, you’ll definitely want to pick up Voctave’s “The corner of Broadway and Main Street” album which is full of great Disney and Broadway tunes. Your purchase via Amazon or iTunes will help support The Disney Blog. Thank you.
