Broadway and TV warbler Telly Leung has officially been playing the title role in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway since June 13 (although he was actually called into action a few days earlier). He made his Broadway debut in 2002 in the revival of Flower Drum Song, and has since performed many roles on and off Broadway including in Godspell and RENT.
Disney Theatrical has just released a new video with a glimpse into Leung’s life on Broadway:
For a taste of what Leung sounds like up on stage, here he is earlier this year singing “Proud of your boy” from Aladdin at the Stars in the Alley concert:
If you were a fan of the TV show Glee you’ll remember Leung as Wes from the Dalton Academy Warblers. We wish him a long life on Broadway as Disney’s Aladdin.
He’s awesome! I saw him in Flower Drum Song and was very impressed by him. Hopefully I can get to NYC sometime to see Aladdin on Broadway, but, with three trips to Florida and one to California planned for the next 12 months, I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it that far north……
