One of the most memorable scenes in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” takes place during the opening credits. Director James Gunn cleverly keeps the focus on the tiny figure of baby Groot while the rest of the Guardians gang fights a huge space creature. It’s a brilliant plan that re-introduces the gang while also lets the audience come to accept Groot’s new role on the team – stay out of the way and look cute and dance.
It turns out that Director James Gunn had a lot to do with Groot’s dance too. In fact, he was the motion capture model for a few of Groot’s signature moves. Gunn has shared a couple of videos on his Facebook page that show his demo dance and the final film product.
