Disney Animation’s “Moana” sails beyond $600 million at box office

Although “Moana” is already available on Blu-Ray and digital download on Amazon in the US, Disney’s latest animated feature is still in theaters in other spots around the globe. That means it’s still climbing the box office charts. “Moana” just navigated its way to $600m million at the global box office, a major milestone.

The Polynesian Princesses’ domestic total as of Thursday was $247.6M and International total was $351.7M, meaning it only needed 600L to pass the mark when numbers come in for yesterday. The film has yet to open in Japan, so the total could go even higher.

Walt Disney Studios had a great 2016 setting the all-time record for box office. By reaching $600M, “Moana” sails into exclusive waters joining only “Big Hero 6,” “Zootopia,” and “Frozen” to have reached that level.

Fans and critics like the movie. It maintains an ‘A’ CinemaScore and at 95 Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was nominated for two Oscars and two Golden Globes.

How would you rate Disney Animation’s “Moana” among its recent films?

  1. Moana is a very good movie, however, I agreed with the Oscar going to Zootopia, which had a clever message about racism and judging people based on appearance. I wish Trump would watch it.
