Grant Woolard is a musician who likes to play around the fringes of his art. He started making unique videos of his compositions in 2010 while living in Japan. Among his tricks are playing the piano with objects, using auto-tune to sing classical music, and mashing together songs to make new compositions.
It’s the last category into which his new video fits. Woolard has taken 49 Disney songs and cleverly arranged them into one composition. I recommend listening to it the first time without watching the video. See how many of the songs you can identify, then watch the video again and see if you were right.
That actually worked a lot better than I thought it would. I think some of that can be attributed to the Sherman Bros style of composition, but it even works when you get to some of the more recent movie music. I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece, but it is at least something you can listen to more than once.
Thanks to Grant Woolard for making this unique piece of music.
