It’s hard to hide production of a new film being shot at locations around the world, even if you’re Disney. So the fact that a new film was about to replace “Soarin’ Over California” was about as credible a rumors as we get these days. At D23 Expo it became official.
The new film is expected to show to guests beginning next year at Disney California Adventure and inside The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. Shanghai Disneyland will also have a version of this attraction called “Soaring Over the Horizon” when it opens later next year.
Here’s a beautiful clip showing some scenes from the making of “Soarin’ Around The World”
Even this sample footage is breathtaking, don’t you think?
The new film will feature digital photography and projection and the theaters an improved sound system and new screens. This should keep the lines long at EPCOT, even with the addition of a third theater. I can’t imagine the queue that will form at Disney California Adventure.
Here’s a shot of construction on the third theater in EPCOT.
It’s physically located behind the Imagination Pavilion, but it’s believed you will continue to enter and exit through The Land pavilion as this new film will more closely tie to that theme than the old one about California.
