You will usually find Andreas Meyer on the catwalks shooting photos for a fashion spread. But he was recently on the set of Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” where he captures some of the first photos of Black Panther.
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe was introduced to “The Falcon” as the first African-American Avenger, in the comics Black Panther was the earliest African-American mainstream superhero. Chadwick Boseman has signed a five picture deal with Marvel to portray the Black Panther, including his own stand-alone film in 2018.
If you remember “Avengers: Age of Ultron” we learned that Vibranium, the stuff Captain America’s shield is made out of is mind only in Wakanda, a place in Africa. Black Panther is a descendant of Wakanda royalty and a expert in unarmed combat.
In “Captain America: Civil War” audiences will be introduced to a split between Captain American and Iron Man over the superhero registration act. Black Panther will be introduced as a neutral third party in the dispute.
Also making his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Spider-Man. We just learned that Spidey will start out with a ‘home-made’ spidey-suit and will be given an more appropriate suit when he earns his space on The Avengers. Actor Tom Holland will portray this new reboot of the spider-man character.
Are you looking forward to the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
I think Black Panther is simply African, not African American.
Good point.
