Big Hero 6 becomes Disney’s fourth movie of 2014 to surpass $500 Million at Box Office

With Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Oscar-nominated comedy adventure “Big Hero 6” finally experiencing a widner international box office distribution, the hit movie has been able to cross the $500 million mark at the global box office this past weekend. This puts it in some elite company joining Frozen, The Lion King, Tangled, and Aladdin in the exclusive club.

Hiro, Baymax and friends have also had success domestically earning nearly $218.5 million. Just a nudge more and it will become the 3rd highest-grossing Disney animated feature ever. So if the film is still in theaters near you, go out and see it and help it pass Beauty and the Beast ($219 million domestic total).

Not only does $500 million worldwide put Big Hero 6 in some elite animated neighborhood, it is the fourth Disney film of 2014 to cross that threshold. The other three are: Guardians of the Galaxy, Maleficent, and Captain America: The Winter Solder. That’s some good company. Crazily enough, Disney also managed this feat in 2013 with Frozen, Iron Man 3, Monsters University, and Thor: The Dark World, all raking in more than $500 million at the box office.

If Big Hero 6 is no longer available in theaters near you or you want to own your own copy, check out this great deal on the DVD/Blu-Ray on Amazon.com. As always, your purchase via that link, helps The Disney Blog.
