Guardians of the Galaxy Takes Top Spot at 2014 Global Box Office

Congratulations to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, over the weekend it surpassed Maleficent to become the second highest grossing movie of the year at the worldwide box office. It’s total is now an impressive $765.1 at the global box office.

The only film Guardians lags behind internationally is Transformers: Age of Extinction, which collected $1.087 billion at the worldwide box office. Guardians of the Galaxy is tops among comic book movies for the year beating X-men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Domestically, Guardians of the Galaxy is no slouch either. Still playing in a few theatres, the movie just passed $329 million at the domestic box office, leaving Marvel’s other film of the year Captain America: The Winter Soldier shivering in second place with $259.7 million.
